Vice President, Wrestling Operations at Canadian National Wrestling Alliance
December 2010 - July 2013Under the broad scope of operations, Vern's role encompassed brand management, media relations, publication of a league magazine, live event coordination, production and writing for television, sponsor liaison and direct management of the talent relations portfolio. During his time in this role, Canadian wrestlers in the league received the most visibility and press in international markets since the demise of Stampede Wrestling in 1989. His work with brand development and team building carries on today, with the CNWA brand still being represented and discussed by promoters and wrestlers from coast to coast. In 2012, he was recognized by the offices of Pro Wrestling International as the Promoter of the Year against a field of 26 league promoters across five countries around the world.

Professional Wrestler at Canadian National Wrestling Alliance
May 1993 - June 2013For twenty years, under the nomme to guerre "Vance Nevada", Vern May traversed Canada and the United States as a travelling professional wrestler. Debuting at the tender age of seventeen for Winnipeg-based River City Wrestling. He gained his earliest notoriety on the central Canadian scene, winning a number of titles and headlining cards across the prairies. This would prove to be the launching pad for greater successes inside the squared circle. May maintained one of the most aggressive schedules on the independent scene, closing his career with more than 1,500 matches to his credit. In 2002 alone, he logged more than 62,000 kilometers as he made appearances from coast to coast in Canada and in such remote locations as Fort Norman, NWT. Fans have had the chance to see him go toe to toe with the likes of The Honky Tonk Man, Jim Neidhart, Matt Borne (original Doink), Paul Diamond, Cyrus the Virus, Bushwhacker Luke, Gangrel, Brutus Beefcake, Tito Santana, Bobby Roode, Tatanka and NWA World champion, Adam Pearce. May is also credited as a trainer and mentor, helping to launch the career of dozens of aspiring stars including Andy Anderson, Mentallo, Kenny Omega, The Bollywood Boyz, Kyle Sebastian, Bambi Hall and others. May closed out his career in the summer of 2013 after receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award for professional wrestling from Edmonton Combative Sports Commission. He has also been honored for his work as a promoter, author and historian in recent years.

January 2007 - June 2009Vern ascended quickly through the organization at Simon Fraser University, promoted four times in five years, and at the time of his departure from SFU held the position as Assistant Director, Campus Security. His portfolio included management of the University's key control office, the parking office, the security technologies division, as well as management and implementation of security programs and standards. Beyond the job description, Vern developed a semi-annual security and personal safety newsletter which was distributed not only on campus but also to other Colleges and Universities across the country. While at Simon Fraser, Vern was published in the American "Campus Law Enforcement Journal".

Working with the progressive Minnedosa & Area CDC Board of Directors to fortify the three pillars of community growth and raise the profile of the region to a worldwide audience. Key strategies include focused brand development, progressive use of social media and increased visibility in traditional media outlets to spur community engagement and increased awareness of one of Canada's greatest treasures.
